Hi,
I am Khushi Domadia, I work as a
Story-Teller for a living. Not something you will hear every day, nothing
glamourous like the fellow citizens of Dubai or like the star-struck Mumbai
(both cities in different countries where I grew up and now work). Especially
since I work from my home in a residential city like Sharjah, I miss the
opulent skyscrapers and business towers of Dubai.
But it definitely doesn’t over power my
urge to fix myself up. Yes, I often found myself in crossroads every single
time. I woke up asking myself if I wanted to continue a job? Was I ‘breathing’
in what I learn while I rushed with the crowd every morning, battling with a
3-hour traffic to reach the office at the far end of yet another city? Was it
all meaningful to me and if I wanted to do the same for the next 5 years or so
on, and the answer was, NO.
But being an owner of a creative, yet
tangled, mind – I was still trying to figure out where I wanted to start. So
the other night, I curled up my knees to the chest while sitting on the floor
of my little apartment – gathered a bunch of loose paper, a pen and pushed back
my glasses from the middle of my eyes. I decided I wanted to write down the
things I like to do and connect the dots.
So here’s what came out of my tangled
mind:
1.
I always liked loved history or
investigating stories that the world would like to listen to
2.
I love art
3.
I love to narrate experiences
4.
I love to share new ideas
5.
I love to work with adventurous people!
Because my previous work experience
also influenced my then state of mind (I also love when I am totally a badass
inspiring myself) – I decided I wanted to tell stories.
And to support my stories - I create
presentations and videos from presentations like this one that you're watching!
Yes, I made it all on PowerPoint. I can tell you it drove me crazy like for
this paragraph.
I really wanted to ____. So I had to
keep toggling between different animations ___ for a while till I ___. This
achievement gave me a feeling of high like a yogic does after her yoga session
– imagine what the entire journey would have felt like!
So now you might argue that this is a
whole lot more than just story telling. And you're right.
After all, your friends from creative
backgrounds and jobs like Graphic Designers, Visual Designers, Content Writers
etc. All boil down to either Art, Creativity and Storytelling.
So I won't be rebellious about my title
- I will let YOU decide that. You choose the title I can wear for you- whether
it is Instructional design, Presentation Design, Marketing or Social Media
Management.
Well now, you know who I am, but I still
don't know you and I’m curious!
What's your story? Want to share it
with the world?
